Kristi
I started using drugs at an early age due to childhood trauma. By 13, I was drinking to blackout. At 16, I lost my Mom to cancer and began a downward spiral into a life on the streets of Tacoma. I began getting arrested and was in and out of jail too many times to count and at 30, found myself in prison. That was not enough to quit using. I tried quitting on my own many times and was introduced to 12 step programs. I was in and out of the program as well as treatment.
At 35 I returned to prison. After releasing a second time I tried to stay clean but it was short lived. I went to treatment many more times and just could not stay clean. I began drinking and using again and finally at 45, found myself back in prison. I was being released and was accepted into Truly Motivated Transitional Living. Since coming to Truly Motivated I have learned to let go of my past traumas and grief through the Genesis Program and finally have 2 ½ years clean. The camaraderie and structure have helped me regain balance in my life. I have a job and am in the process of getting my license back. I am profoundly grateful for being able to get my feet on the ground again. I feel I could not have done it without the women at Truly Motivated, as well as Carmin, Steve, and Tom, helping me to get my life back together.
Gratefully, Kristi H.
